Hello to all,
Even though it was a beautiful sunny day, the Fall season has really arrived and our weekly species count is decreasing. Most of the Warblers have seemed to move on and the seasonal waterfowl have yet to arrive. The Canada Geese were very plentiful this week and particularly noisy. We heard them honking and clucking the entire time. Perhaps they were planning a move to the South!
While other species have left, the Kinglets have arrived in full force. While we still had many Ruby-crowned, the Golden-crowned were everywhere. It seemed like no matter where you looked, you saw a Kinglet. The Golden-crowned Kinglets put on a great show and flashed us their crowns several times. They are so cute and a joy to look at.
We also were lucky enough to welcome 2 Eastern Bluebirds back to Jackson Park. It has been a long time since we have observed any so it was an exciting sighting. Let’s hope that they stick around for a little while.
