Habitat Restoration

The Chicago are is home to hundreds of thousands of birds, and millions more pass through each spring and fall. All these bird need native habitat. Chicago Bird Alliance partners with other organizations to restore important native habitat that birds need. We follow the principles described in our new publication, Partnering for Birds (PDF).

Camp Pine

This preserve on the Des Plaines River in Glenview was a prisoner of war camp and a girl scout camp. In the intervening years, shrubs grew up and shrubland birds found a home here. CAS is partnering with the Forest Preserve District to restore the remnant shrub prairie on the site.
