Join fellow birders for a morning outing in Westchester at Salt Creek Woods, a top birding hotspot in west-central Cook County.
The preserve hosts diverse habitat types — including many acres of mature woodlands, the Salt Creek riparian corridor and a small prairie — which attract many resident and migrating birds. It is also one of just a few sites in Cook County where we may encounter all seven possible woodpecker species. The walk will be slightly less than 2 miles on paved bike trails and earthen trails.
Parking: Please note that the preserve has no main lot and parking may be confusing. The trip leader will provide exact instructions on parking/meetup location to those registered.
Trip leader: Kyle Wiktor
Registration is REQUIRED and limited to 12 participants. Please call or text Kyle at (708)-506-5186 to RSVP. A waiting list will be created beyond these numbers.
